In the summer of 2016, West Ham acquired Lanzini from Al-Jazira for a reported £10.8 million. Since then, the attacking midfielder, who can also play on the left wing, has made 210 appearances for West Ham. In that time, he has tallied 30 goals and 27 assists.

Last year, Lanzini was a consistent member of West Ham’s starting lineup. He participated in 45 games across all competitions, assisting Moyes’ team in their seventh-place Premier League finish and semifinal appearance in the Europa League.

However, the addition of Lucas Paqueta from Lyon put the Argentine’s position on the team in jeopardy. West Ham spent £51 million to acquire the Brazilian playmaker, breaking their previous record for transfers.

When joining the east London club, Paqueta said: “I’m extremely happy to be here. I hope it’s the beginning of an enjoyable journey. I hope my time here is successful.

“Last season, West Ham had a very good season. And I hope they continue to enjoy more and more good seasons in my time at the club.”

As Paqueta adjusts to life in London and Moyes’ system, his influence over West Ham is gradually growing. In contrast, Lanzini’s influence is dwindling.

The 29-year-old hasn’t started any of West Ham’s last four league games. And so far this season, he has yet to play a full 90 minutes in the league.
