According to a claim made by journalist Simon Phillips on his Substack, RB Leipzig is aiming to sign Benjamin Sesko in January so that they may approve Christopher Nkunku’s transfer to Chelsea.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the trade between the Bundesliga team and the Blues has already been finalized and will take place after the current campaign.
Due to their numerous offensive woes thus far this season, there may be a desire on the part of the club to complete a deal sooner.
Fans may have thought that the additions of Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would have solved their goal-scoring woes, but it is not a new problem at Stamford Bridge.
Additionally, they won’t have a striker from their first team for the rest of the season.
Nkunku could transfer in January.
After being carted off on a stretcher during a friendly match against Aston Villa a week ago, Armando Broja has been declared out for the remainder of the campaign.
They could try to get Nkunku in sooner as a result, despite the fact that he is now struggling with an ailment that prevented him from competing at the World Cup.
According to Phillips, the imminent arrival of Sesko from Salzburg to Leipzig would serve as the impetus for any early Nkunku transfer.
He said: “Sources tell him that RB Leipzig are trying to move forward their summer deal to sign Benjamin Sesko (also wanted by Chelsea in the future) forward to January, which would then free up Nkunku to join Chelsea in January.”
The Bundesliga team beat out Chelsea and Manchester United to land the highly sought-after kid, and an agreement between the Red Bull teams is already in place for Sesko’s move at the conclusion of the season.
